Three months ago I walked into a news agent and saw a new landscape magazine that I found interesting. I purchased the magazine and later decisive to send in a few images. Two weeks later I received the images back in the post with a nice letter stating that they have employed one of the images and that they would like to see regular submissions from me. The likewise included a cheque for the effigy used.

Seeing your images published in a magazine for the basi time is special. The sentiment of excitement and honour is hard to describe, it will give you an extra lease of life and give you that extra drive to become more successful.

To be successful at getting published you original will have to need to perceive everything that is required.

The best images are not always the ones that are chosen. Magazines editors will pick an effigy that will suit their current story line and they will pick images that will support the reader understand the topic being discussed. Magazines normally publish bright colourful images that tell a story, or help to describe or trade a sure product.

If your photography capability is up to par – there is no reason why you can’t begin sending your images to photo editors straight away. First, go to your nearest newsagent and select a few magazines that you are fascinated in submitting to. Study each effigy that has been employed by the publisher and then compare the images in the magazine to your own.

This is were you need to be honorable and also be your own most unmanageable critic. If you think your images are good sufficient formulate a portfolio of your best shots and get it in the post as soon as possible. If they’re not, you have to receive that; if you send in images that don’t meet the ordinary they will be returned. You will end up wasting your own time along with the time of the publisher.

If your images are chosen, don’t submit the same images to a dissimilar company straight away. Wait a few months before using them again. If a magazine finds out that images they used are in a dissimilar magazine at the same time, they won’t use your photography again.

Most magazines have popular prices that they recompense to photographers, and will not go over this. Don’t be scared to ask for a price list before submitting images. Some of the littler companies won’t remunerate you too much and it may not be worth it. If you are unsure when it comes to a publisher, send an e-mail to the company letting them know that you are fascinated in submitting images and would like to get their guidelines for photographers.

Editors of magazines are always looking for new material, and up and coming new photographers. I now get my photography published each month in this magazine and receive a regular payment from this publishing company. If you have got sufficient images there is no reason why you can’t supply five or six magazines each month.

52011 Photographer’s Market
By Anthony Dezenzio
I have been an avid reader of Photographer’s Market for over 5 years. This year’s edition has added up-to-date business information from getting started in the stock photo market to running your business in a profitable way.
Plenty of new markets have been added to 2011 Photographer’s Market. As always, I find this year’s edition very informative and highly recommend it both to beginning and established photographers interested in selling their images.

32011 edition.

Although this publication has been declining in quality through the years, it is still useful. Some of the cause probably is the current state of the economy. A couple of the websites listed don’t exist and I am getting quite a few returned emails that are not accepted on the other end. Also, you probably need to use this in conjunction with the photographer’s market website which makes this kind of spendy.

5Great Resource

This is a great starting point for photographers looking to find a market for their work. The 1 year subscription to the website is also a great resource and has the expanded versions of what is in the book along with many other listings. A must have.
